Jose M. Infante Herrero was presented the first Kidger-Moore Outstanding Achievement Award during the 1st Spanish (one day) Optical Designers' Meeting - ESODM-2011 held at CeDInt (Research Centre for Smart Buildings and Energy Efficiency) at the Polytechnic University of Madrid on 6 October 2011. This award was presented to Jose for outstanding achievement in optical design.  Jose is a part-time Ph.D student at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a full-time employee at Indra Sistemas, S.A., Aranjuez, Spain.

The Kidger-Moore Outstanding Achievement Award is sponsored by Tina E. Kidger, Proprietor, Kidger Optics Associates, Malvern, UK and Emery L. Moore, Past President (1990), SPIE. Tina Kidger presented a check and an award certificate to Jose at the end of the ESODM-2011 morning session.


Jose began his technical studies in 1998 at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid where he developed a strong interest in optics. In 2006 he took a job at ‘Indra Sistemas’ as Optical Designer under department head Marta de la Fuente. At Indra, Jose is now a Senior Engineer and Technical Manager of the SPIKE and PELICANO programs.

Simultaneous with his work at Indra, Jose undertook doctoral research at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid where he joined Juan Carlos Miñano’s engineering group. Jose expects to complete his doctoral research sometime in 2012 including his thesis work entitled “Development of Free-Form Imaging Optical Systems Using the SMS Method.”
